My name is Marcus Dela Cruz and I'm an Emergency Veterinarian based in Berkeley, CA. I grew up in Sacramento, CA and attended Sonoma State University where I earned a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I then moved to the Midwest to continue my education. After four years (and four very long winters), I graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
I spend my days taking care of dogs and cats, being a voice for the voiceless, and working to improve the human-animal bond. At the start of 2021, I started this blog with the goal of being a resource for pet owners, providing helpful information and advice related to veterinary medicine. There is a lot of misinformation out there, so I want to be a transparent and reliable source of information for you. I know that every pet owner wants to make the best decisions for their fur babies, so I hope you find the information I provide helps you make informed decisions that improves the health and happiness of your pet!
On my days off, you can catch me playing pick-up anything (basketball, frisbee, volleyball), watching sports (Go Sacramento Kings), or exploring the Bay Area with my wife, Allyson, and our Labrador Retriever, Charlie.
Thank you for stopping by! Follow me on Instagram @thefriendlyvet. I look forward to getting to know you and your fur babies.
